July 2020 Sister Spotlight: Catherine Jenkins

Our June 2020 Sister Spotlight is Catherine Jenkins.

Catherine (who also goes by Cat) spent the first 8 years of her life in the great state of Oklahoma. She says, “I was Sooner born but moved to the Dallas area.” She attended both middle and high school in Flower Mound, Texas, attending Marcus High School (before there was a second high school in the area.) “I chose to stay in our vibrant metroplex for college and chose to attend University of Texas at Arlington. I have a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing with a minor concentration in Economics.”

Cat admits to always having a strong entrepreneurial spirit. She spent many years working in small businesses, including real estate and network marketing. She has an extensive recruiting background as a former Vice President of Bank of America. She combined those incredible skills to start her own branch of Edward Jones to shine brightly as a Financial Advisor. Where did she get this incredible drive and determination? She shares that she was proudly raised by her mother, a driven, professional who literally broke the glass ceiling with her fists as a former IBM executive. And she adds her tenacity comes from her beloved father, a self-made business owner who can build a relationship with anyone he has ever met.

When I asked Cat to add more about why she chose to become a Financial Advisor, she explained that she truly loves serving her friends and neighbors. “I love that this is my very own backyard,” she adds. “I offer a genuine, authentic and caring approach to anyone that I work with in all aspects of life, especially with financial advice. Whether your goals include preparing for or living comfortably in retirement, paying for education, planning for the unexpected or creating an estate or inheritance, we can offer investment solutions tailored to all your financial goals. Together we monitor your progress to ensure you stay on track or identify any adjustments that need to be made. I also enjoy working with business owners and their business retirement plans. Throughout it all, I’m dedicated to providing you top-notch service. My absolute passion is helping women and supporting other women! Many are unsure about investments and retirement accounts, and so many think they just don’t have enough to work with a Financial Advisor or even be able to retire. That is where I provide a judgment-free zone to have the conversations needed to analyze where they are and where they want to go. We start right where they are and start building, always with the eye on the future and the goals.”

Catherine describes her first time attending our Empower Brunch when she first found our group:

“When I walked into that room for the first time, I was facing a tough time in my career. I was making a big change, had recently failed a test, and the tears were overflowing. But I talked to other women who were listening with empathy, genuinely supporting my feelings of defeat and overwhelm. Then they proceeded to provide me with encouragement and empowerment. I did truly connect at the heart and those feelings helped me walk into my networking life knowing exactly what I am looking for in connections with others.”

Cat is proud to share that Edward Jones is a National Presenting Sponsor and the largest contributor to ‘The Walk to End Alzheimer’s.’ She personally leads a team each year to walk at Nebraska Furniture Mart in September, as she has personally seen this disease attack friend’s families and her own stepfather-in-law. “Edward Jones is in the business of helping families build and preserve wealth. Alzheimer’s disease is a great threat to the health and wealth of our clients. We walk because we refuse to stand by idly and watch this disease destroy the financial security and future hopes and dreams of the families we serve. We walk to raise awareness and financial support to accelerate the day when we find a cure for Alzheimer’s.”

Cat has been married to her husband, John, since 2007. They have two beautiful daughters, Lauren and Hannah. They reside in The Colony and enjoy watching all Dallas sports, traveling anywhere with a beach, and boating with their lake family at Pier 121. When they aren’t on the lake or gathering with friends and family, John and Cat are usually walking or cuddling with their fur-baby, Bandit, a six year-old rescue Border Collie.
