Janet Bernstein & Lori Dixon met in 2015 at a women's networking event, where Janet was the group facilitator and leader. The following year, in September 2016, Lori and Janet were brainstorming and came up with an idea to host a women's retreat in Dallas. They scheduled it for December of the same year, and attracted 29 women. Following the retreat, the women who had attended wanted more! Janet and Lori agreed their calling was greater than they could have imagined, so they walked away from the other women's group to officially form The Every Heart Project.
The second retreat in November 2017 attracted 44 women, and Janet and Lori began to discuss implementing a formal membership program to differentiate the project from other informal groups. They also compiled the first collaborative book, which allowed 10 women to share their stories.
In May 2018, co-founder Lori Dixon stepped down from the project to pursue other endeavors and to spend more time with family. Although it was a bittersweet, mutual decision, Janet Bernstein officially stepped into the President role to move the project forward, along with the Inner Circle (leadership team.)
